It was mentioned that the thugs launched the attack on protesters in the early hours of the morning today, Saturday 17th October, 2020. They were armed with cutlasses, broken bottles and swords.
The incident happened at Olaiya Junction in Osogbo, the state capital, which resulted to the severe injury of one of the protesters identified as Oloye.
Mr Oloye was rushed to hospital for immediate treatment, while many other protesters fled the scene for safety.
Rumor has it that the youths of Osun state suspects the government for the disorganization of their #EndSARS protest. The state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, denied the government’s involvement in the attack. He made this known in a statement by his spokesperson, Ismail Omipidan,
He said it was ‘irrational’ to think that the government would sponsor thugs against peaceful protesters.
